CONCERNED BLACK MEN HOST COMPUTER LITERACY CLASSESFOR THE WHOLE FAMILY

HUNTINGTON, MD (October 6, 2000) Don’t fall into the ever-growing technology gap! Join the Concerned Black Men (CBM) of Calvert County as they embark on a series of computer literacy classes aimed at educating the whole family.

No ownership or prior knowledge of personal computers is necessary and beginners of all ages are highly encouraged to attend. The series of sessions, geared toward families learning together, will begin 6:30 p.m., Oct. 18 at CBM’s offices in Suite 207 of the Carroll-Victoria Community Center, located along Routes 2-4, just south of Cox Road in Huntingtown.

At first, participants will learn the basics of computing, then move into the use of popular software like Microsoft Word, Internet Explorer, WordPerfect, Outlook Express and of course surfing the Internet. Additional programs may be explored at an individual pace. Emphasis will be placed on using the computer as a family tool for research, household financial planning, and educational opportunity.

All sessions are free, but space is limited. So call (410) 414-5009 today to register.

The Concerned Black Men (CBM) of Calvert County, part of an international, non-profit organization, came into existence nearly five years ago following discussions held by African-American men in the county. The chapter’s mission, in part, is to provide a holistic approach to services that support and strengthen the African-American family. Youth are a primary focus of CBM’s mentoring and other outreach programs.
